If you are wondering if something is a little different here this morning, don’t worry that you had too much too drink during last night’s Superbowl! There have been some subtle changes made to the site in an effort to make it easier to come back to some old entries to find things you read about and might like to revisit (such as recipes, quotes, fitness ideas, etc.). Firstly, on the top of the page you will see a search tool that allows you to enter a word or phrase in an effort to find something specific, like black bean soup. Though I am not sure if it brings you directly to the entry, (it might) it will definitely bring you to the page that it is on. Additionally, on the bottom left of the homepage, you will see categories and clicking one will bring up specific entries, such as Vegan Feast Thursday or Biggest Loser. Try it and you’ll see what I mean. At the top left of the homepage, you will see the most recent entries posted and when you click them, you will also be able to view the comments. On each day’s blog, the comment link is on the top right of the entry so just click, as always to comment. Thanks to Kyle, my webmaster, for the very quick turnaround time on this request! You are awesome. We aren’t finished tweaking the site, but it was important to me that the search tool went up as many have been asking for the soup recipes and other recipes that are so far back who could find them??!?! Now we all can. I do notice that I am unable to make paragraphs happen this morning. Forgive me while I wait to hear back from Kyle on why?!?!
Speaking of soup, yesterday I made lentil, mushroom and barley. Soup #6 was another hit because honestly, these soups are NO FAIL! Look for that recipe later in the week. We sampled a bowl at kickoff time, along with a big garden salad and Gardein chicken wings for me, fried shrimp for Mitch. I wish I could say I watched the whole game, but sleep called after we got an early start to Sunday at the Farmer’s Market. where I we stocked up on fresh goodies and I visited briefly with the cows to let them know that there are people in the world spreading the word on on their behalf. Then it was off to visit with family and friends before doing some work around the house and yard, getting some sun, playing some word games, cooking, playing billiards and relaxing with some red wine. I did see Christina sing, I did NOT see the Black Eyed Peas, though. Congrats to the Green Bay Packers for their win and the coveted Superbowl ring. My dad would be so proud. Not only did I predict the win, but I predicted that they would come out on top by 6 points. Final score: 31-25 YIKES. If only I was a gambling girl.
While I didn’t have much red to wear on Friday, I did want to do something “red,” so I donated blood. I will be very curious to see how my cholesterol is doing after 11 months of this very veganish eating. I am happy to report that my iron was very good. Donating blood is a great way to get a free, mini-check up while helping save lives. There is nothing better than win/win situations!
If you are one of my SilverSneakers students and are interested in a 10:30 am class on Mondays, please let Melissa, the manager, know. Maybe if she sees how many of you would really show up earlier, the club will add the class. It would not be instead of any other classes, it would be in addition. Spread the word and perhaps we can assure EVERYONE gets in a Monday class with less waiting time and less chance of being turned away.
Speaking of class, it is time to get ready for my first one of the day. See you there, or somewhere or right back here for a little more peaceandfitness. Have a grateful and very productive day. Thanks for stopping in!!
