Tonight our big boys of Miami get all dressed up and go out for a dress rehearsal. Around our house, it’s Publix, yard work and dinner at kickoff. Now that we have named our starting quarterback, let’s see what our boy Ryan Tannehill can do. Yesterday, I found myself engaged in several conversations about nutrition and how what we eat effects us, and this morning I find myself wondering about the eating habits of our Miami Dolphins. I remember a conversation I had many, many years ago, with a then Dolphin player who worked out at Tamarac Fitness Center. He said that he could always tell which teams focused on nutrition by the way they played the second half of the game. He expressed that everyone comes out energized, but the more healthy teams/players were still strong in the second half. Makes sense to me. I just read an article about the University of Central Florida football team; specifically how they are putting a lot of attention into their nutrition with hopes of developing a stronger defense. Perhaps our Dolphin’s defensive coaches, who are working hard with the players on the field, need to get outside the box and think kitchen, too! Over in Texas where they do everything big, I am following the Houston Texan’s Arian Foster who adopted a vegan diet this year. While he doesn’t think this is such a big deal, the team’s dietician thinks he could be “on the cusp of a new way of eating for NFL players.” So I’m not just excited about tonight’s Dolphin game, but also excited to see how dress rehearsal goes for the Texans when they play the Saints this weekend.
Funny…this game of football. For me it has definitely been an acquired taste, but it keeps growing on me….
