As I slowly return to my desk, computer and blog, I come back with a great new perspective. Making meditation a daily habit has been an incredibly positive experience and though I have dabbled in the past, it now fits perfectly into my life, like a long lost, missing puzzle piece. Thinking that it should be a natural part of life like brushing our teeth, eating our meals and …oh, exercise, of course. The neuroscience on the positive benefits can’t be argued.
Congratulations to Andrea, Christina and Jane on a great first week of small group training. You 3 took your workouts seriously (even when we were leap frogging) and showed great commitment. You should be very proud of yourselves. I am proud and excited to be working (and working out) with all of you!
Today was my last day of subbing for Ellen (SilverSneakers) as she will be back to the gym on Monday. It is always nice to spend time with different groups and see people I only get to see once in a while. My guess is, they are definitely ready to see Ellen and go back to their “norm,” on Monday morning. One thing I know after 30plus years teaching fitness…NO ONE likes a sub…but Ellen’s people were sweet and appreciative and ALL our students inspire me and teach me so much. I am grateful.
While some of you have closed up your pools and already said good-bye to summer, here in So. FL, we don’t ever really say good-bye to summer…if anything we say, “See you VERY soon.” So I am off to make like the now infamous, Diana Nyad and swim. It’s really not so much for the movement as it is for my head. It’s a lot like meditation. The water creates a great “curtain,” between the swimmer and the rest of the world and it’s time to get behind my curtain…
Make it a beautiful weekend. Namaste
