Last night’s episode of BL opened with the 8 remaining contestants in MAGNIFICENT Queenstown, New Zealand with Alison. She tells them about the adventurous spirit there and how they all need to push themselves, PUSH being the KEY word, here! This week, it will be all about that, and individually. No more teams. With this, Brett comes parachuting out of the sky to rejoin the group. This would be only the beginning of people falling out of the sky.
If the season, thus far, has been relatively void of exciting challenges, last night surely made up for the whole season! Some cliff jumped, Cara leading the way and looking and sounding absolutely petrified (as would I!) While there clearly was a lot of jumping last night, I most enjoyed watching Alison bungee jump after telling them about the history of the bungee jumping site they are at and about to start their challenge from. Alison looked like a natural, calm, graceful and enjoying the thrill. NOT ME!
The challenge is to river board a half mile down the river and the winner will not only get a helicopter ride over Milford Sound, but also the coveted immunity at the weekly weigh in. Go my girl, Olivia (I love her more every week) who wins and asks Hannah to join her, even though this will take away from Hannah’s workout time, and hesitantly, Hannah does. What a spectacular journey that was!!! Absolutely heaven on Earth!
Back at the ranch there are, of course, Subway sandwiches and talks about second chances. Jay got one and so did Brett. They, along with Austin, go rock climbing…up real rocks and real mountains. Bob takes Irene and Rulon bungee jumping (yikes) and we learn that Rulon survived a plane crash 4 years ago. But soon the adventures are over and it is time for a last chance workout, before the weigh in.
Rulon managed a 10 pound loss, crazy this far along in the season. Everyone actually does really well, but Hannah and Ken fall below the yellow line, losing 3 and 4 pounds, respectively. After a very split vote, which finds them tied, Ken is sent home because he had the lower percentage of weight loss of the two.
Ken started his journey at 377 and today he is 238, down 139 pounds. He returns to New Zealand (I see a theme and I guess once you have been there, you have to share the beauty with others) with his other son and daughter for some paragliding. We also learn that inspired by the trip he will be returning to help fight obesity. Nice. We also have plenty of obesity right here in America, though.
Next week, the 7 remaining contestants head back to the ranch. For sure, I thought it would be makeover week, but alas, no such luck. We will get to see some old favorites from the past when Ali, Tara and Sam visit to help with some training. Since the new show The Voice, airs at 9 next week, I am guessing BL is just one hour. Maybe the following week will be makeovers?
**I taught at Tamarac Fitness last night and Ron and Wendie both seem very excited about starting the SilverSneakers classes. If you are reading this and plan on coming there, go ahead over and register. Let him know you are interested in the class. We will be placing an equipment order and should have everything we need to accommodate 30 per class by next month…after 30 he is totally willing to add additional classes. At this point, I am thinking we will start with the 11:30 classes (hopefully at least days a week, and then add back to backs as needed). Can’t wait to see you there…
