We surely have plenty of good reason to exercise, but here’s more! According to a study done at Texas Southwestern Medical Center, “trash” is actually eliminated from the body when we engage in exercise. It stimulates a process that aids in removal of viruses, broken proteins, (once we really understand that proteins are simply links of amino acids, so yeah, they can break) old mitochondria and other waste products. Exercise also increases the rate of autophagy of cellular debris, which is a process that helps prevent disease and slows aging. Researchers found that by raising that autophagy rate we also boost blood-sugar metabolism, helping with endurance.
To me, this research is just more proof that exercise is THE magic bullet.
