Good morning and welcome to Biggest Loser update, week #5. Wow, what a difference just 5 weeks can make. The show opens with the unknowns becoming the red team and the campus team gets to choose to be blue or black, which they easily decide is going to be black. Red vs black, bring it on starting with a chocolate challenge, where whoever eats the most calories in 3 minutes wins the opportunity to either keep the teams as is, OR trade one couple, for a couple on the other team. It appeared that just one person from each team actually went in to the chocolate den of doom. Funny but 4 women and 4 men went in and 3 out of the 4 women were able to walk away without eating ANY chocolate. No great surprise that Arthur eats 35 pieces and wins the challenge. Arthur makes the bizarre choice of giving Jay and Jen, an incredibly strong team, over to red and taking Sarah and Deni on to his black team. Though Ali said no one would have to know who won and made the changes if made, but Arthur feels a need to share that it was him and that yes, he chose them as sacrificial lambs for the weigh in. Everyone is pissed, though they do welcome Deni and Sarah and as it turned out they were NO lambs!
It is now time to share the gym as both team workout there. Cara and Brett have an entirely different approach to training their team members than Bob and Jillian do. Cara and Brett are shown working not only with their team members, but independently as well. I am not sure how I feel about seeing them on cardio equipment when most of their team training is done off the equipment, and really, who cares how fast Brett can run? Not me. And just for the record I like him a little less that I did when I just got sneak peaks of him, the first 4 weeks. Bob and Jillian do come off more as treadmill trainers, but we know this is not true, just how the show was edited for the episode. I may have a hard time with Cara’s high pitched voice…just saying.
I LOVED THE NEXT CHALLENGE. It was one of the best ever. It went quickly, was interesting and challenged them in a lot of different ways in a short time. The best part was watching Justin, who I really don’t care for, try to figure out the calorie count part of the challenge. Justin and Rulon clearly think they are in charge and above all others. Really, who was Justin to get involved in Q’s commitment to his wife. Huh? I loved when Hannah shot the arrow pretty much hitting a bull’s eye on the first try. Hannah and Olivia…I love them both! The final part of the challenge is putting together the puzzle pieces and Arthur nails it giving black team the win and it’s videos from home for them. Very cute the way they all got together with pillows and blankies to watch the videos. Now I love Olivia’s husband and her and Hannah’s family, too. As hard as I try, I can’t quiet imagine anything that would keep me away from my daughter’s wedding, as Deni did. I get the once in a lifetime chance to be on BL, but HER DAUGHTER’S WEDDING? I have to guess she did it for Sarah, but still.
The weigh ins were absolutely insane. 190 pounds lost between the 2 teams in one week. That is absolutely crazy!!! I felt a little badly that everyone gave Q such a hard time about losing ONLY 7 pounds while when another guy, like Justin loses 10 and that’s great. Again, I shake my head. Losing a pound a day is a lot for ANYONE. No fan of Q’s, I still felt badly and thought that it was wrong for them to get on him about not giving it his all. The estrogen stacked black team kicked butt last night, even with those lambs on the team. In fact, Sarah saw double digits! That’s showing them. It was Olivia who would rock it out with a 16 pound weight loss. In week 5. It’s becoming clear, season after season, that while the girls might start out with slow weight loss, those that hang in a few weeks start to melt away. Even Marci, who as Mitch pointed out doesn’t even look heavy anymore, took off 13 pounds bringing her weight down to 187. I love her and Courtney, too.
I am very partial towards the women and the black team. The only man that I care to see hang around is Jay and even when it is his time to part, I wont be sad. With 5 weeks behind us, my favorite 5 are: Olivia, Hannah, Courtney, Irene and Sarah. I think it will be hardest for me to see one of the sisters go. Not an issue this week. It was red team that needed to send someone home and I don’t think anyone was surprised that it was Q who’s refrigerator light went out. Home with his wife, he is down almost 100 pounds. Everyone wins on Loser.
Happy, Happy Birthday to RITA!!!! All wonderful things….that is what I wish you!!!

I really enjoyed BL last night, there was a little of everything going on. Arthur (IMO) was an IDIOT for announcing he was the one who made the change. I understand his motivation (don’t agree with it) and it MIGHT have worked IF he hadn’t been STUPID enough to tell everyone! Yellow (Justin in particular) annoys the hell out of me – really, who does he think he is ?!? Love the girls this season (same as Bonni).
Bonni – Love the new look of the page. The search feature is fantastic and since you wrote the blog in BOLD this morning I didn’t have trouble reading it at all. Thanks Kyle – You’re the Bomb!
Loved the Yoga last night Bonni – I know some people are put off by it but it sure works for me. (and I didn’t miss the music at all). xoxo

Rita….the class is at 7pm, but it is not always yoga, it is sometimes Pilates and usually a mix of both….anyone can do the parts they are comfortable with and not the other postures, but it is different every week….we’ll talk!
Carol, glad you enjoyed the class last night…it all worked out for the best!

Thank you for the birthday wishes. Ted and I went to my favorite place in the world………….the beach. We gazed at the ocean, envied the seagulls as they soared in the sky, enjoyed people watching and soaked up the gloriousness of it all! Then we went out to dinner. All in all, it was a fabulous day. Mother Earth even participated and the weather was picture perfect.
