Quite a while ago I read that adding safflower oil to salad dressing has a tummy-trimming effect. Easy enough, I do often add some to my olive oil/fresh squeezed lemon juice, dressing. This morning, I am reading about it again, and the studies do seem to prove this. Safflower oil is rich in omega-6 fatty acid (linoliec acid) which may have a positive effect on metabolism. In a 36-week study of women (including diabetic, obese and postmenopausal participants) adding 8 grams of the oil (about 1 2/3 teaspoons) caused a loss of an average of 6% of their belly fat–without making any other changes in their diets or exercise. Their lean body mass even increased slightly.
Do keep in mind that ALL fats contain a hefty amount of calories, so just like other healthy fats like olive oil, avocado and nuts, portion control is paramount. Add them all to your daily diet, just do so in moderation and remember that calories add up quickly.
On a totally different note, the news is reporting some very positive news about retired FBI agent and local Coral Springs resident, Bob Levinson, who mysteriously vanished in Iran 4 years ago. His wife, 7 children (one who went to school with Kyle) and 2 grandchildren, have renewed hope for his life and his return to theirs! This is not only wonderful news for his family, but a reminder of how important HOPE is. Hoping to hear more about this soon!
Have a happy, hopeful Friday. Happy birthday to Dolores! Much love to all…
