….It’s time to celebrate Chanukah! Some people like to burn off last night’s calories…I like to burn em off in advance. I’ll be outside training with Jane this morning, then off to the gym for 9:30 class. All of it will be dedicated to eating some homemade latkes tonight! After work there will be some shopping, including grocery shopping for the all essential potatoes and onions. While I have yet to get the vegan matzo ball down, the vegan potato pancake is as easy as leaving out the eggs. Not only doesn’t it change much (yes, eggs make them a bit fluffier and a bit lighter in color, but just a bit) but Mitch actually has found he likes the egg-less ones better! They take quite a bit of time, energy and patience, and yes, the house will smell like everyone’s Jewish grandmas apartment building in the Bronx, Brooklyn or Queens for a few days…actually someone gave me a simple tip yesterday which I will be trying out tonight. She said to put a big bowl of vinegar in the kitchen after frying. I will let you know how the house smells after I vinegarize.
Wherever you are, whatever you celebrate, remember that miracles happen every day. Now, get in your daily dose of exercise so you, too, can eat and “drink your gin and tonica and smoke your (even legal in some states) marijuanica and have a happy, happy, happy, happy Chanukah. To Derek, Jolene, Kyle and Nicole…always wish we could be together for every holiday, but you are all in my hearts today as you are each and every day.
