Well, for all the weeks that Biggest Loser was weak on challenges, last night was not. It really all makes much more sense this season. The more fit the contestants get, the more physically capable they are of participating in more challenging challenges and experiences. Last night, in Auckland, New Zealand, this is exactly what we witnessed in the final 9. With Brett, and the red team OUT (maybe if Brett took off his jacket more, he might have opened himself up more to his team?? Just wondering if he never really connected with them and hence all of them are gone…) only 3 teams remained. 3 rather focused teams.
The first pop challenge was to answer a question regarding the height of the Sky Tower and Austin won himself a premium seat for the 13 hour plane ride. Once there, they meet at the foot of the Sky Tower to walk up the 1,027 steps to the top. Then, Bob tells them they can go back down the way they came, or take the zip line to the bottom. Jay was exempt because of his heart condition and Moses and Rulon, because their weights exceed the limit. Jillian was first and she looked scared SH*T! Curse words flow from her mouth and only some are bleeped! I was surprised that most of them were excited about the jump. Those sisters, Olivia and Hannah just rock! I love their spirit and they are both looking so awesome. They made the jump look like a day at the park. Bob admits to his fear of heights and Ken, who is also afraid, says he will do it if Bob does it and Bob, thinking Ken will chicken (why do we call it chicken?) out. They both end up jumping and while Bob looks frightened the whole time, Ken seemed to enjoy the ride down.
Lots of attention was given to Moses and the fact that his dad once lived in this very town. He went to school there and it was all to give his family a better life. We see Moses on the phone with his dad, back home. It is odd that every couple season, there are people from Tonga. I am pretty sure I never heard of Tonga before BL.
I loved the part where the contestants raised the sail on the sailboat, no easy task and simply beautiful. I would LOVE that experience (but not the zip line!).
The physical challenge was awesome. I loved it and wanted so badly to be a part of it. Doing a 5k in the crazy terrain of the island. Running through muddy, slippery sand and sand crawling up a huge sand wall, they all did a great job but in the end it was the black team that reached the finish line, first. The prize was a helicopter ride over the beauty of the area, and lunch on an island. Moses wanted this SO badly and he, Irene and Hannah did it! The girls were so sweet and gave up their spot to Kaylee so that dad and daughter could experience this together. Does anyone else see Irene as the quiet warrior that I see her as. And she is becoming such a beautiful young woman! Irene, Hannah and Olivia. My WISHFUL pick for final 3. No way they have enough weight to lose, but nonetheless, my picks.
Last chance workout was great. I loved the good old fashioned calisthenics and I loved watching everyone, including Jillian and Cara, participate in Bob’s yoga class. I want to, too!!! Yes, Bob, please keep telling the world how strong yoga makes us. We all need yoga in our lives. What a better place this world would be. I wish I had the opportunity to do more of it, myself. Someday…
The weigh in was mixed. Austin lost 8 pounds, a great number for week 15! Rulon, 7 and Ken 6. Kaylee, on the other hand gained 5 pounds but Austin and Ken lost enough to save green and it sort of pissed me off. I could have seen Kaylee go. Ironically, it is Moses, her father, who lost no pounds, that offered himself as a sacrifice instead of seeing Olivia go home. I knew as a dad he would do that. Thank you Moses.
We see him return with his dad and that was pretty touching. Must be nice to have the time and money to do these things. Not me, I am off to work. But I surely can’t complain!
Next week apparently Brett returns. I think I like it better without him. I think that Cara and Bob would do just fine as season 12 BL trainers. I guess it all remains to be seen. I feel like we are getting VERY close to THE makeover episode. Maybe the week after next??? They sure will have a good time with Austin 🙂
Have a wonderful Wednesday. Glad you stopped by!

OK – I LOVED BL last night. I don’t know if I could have done the zip line down as I’m afraid of heights, and just watching them on TV was making me sick to my stomach. I thought Olivia’s speech might have the opposite effect on the outcome of who goes home – after all, you can’t get pregnant while you’re apart from your husband! I am in awe of the selflessness of the contestants this season. Moses is a DAD to his soul to sacrifice himself when his journey is so far from over.
Cara annoys the SH!T outta of me – her voice, her techniques, her style of training – I dislike it all. But hey – different strokes for different folks – right ? I do, however, love to box and wouldn’t mind spending some time boxing with her.
Thanks for the great classes last night Bonni. I really needed the stress relief. xoxo
