Using Chopra’s suggestions about awareness while eating, must be working! Last night, for the first time in maybe forever, I was feeling satisfied after just half my dinner. I thought of you, Rita. It’s no coincidence that you do this always and remain the same weight as when you were a teenager! It wasn’t a challenge, I simply realized I was already satisfied and feeling stuffed was not only not necessary, but not even desired. Bonus is I still have half of a pretty good veggie burrito from Zona Fresca. While I don’t eat much food from the outside, it’s always great when Mitch and I can find a place that we can both eat from, and this is one of them. The burrito seems pretty clean (black beans, rice, avocado, peppers, onions on a whole wheat wrap) and eating only half makes it….half the calories (unknown, but estimating at about 700 for a whole one).
On the fitness side, I completed about 70 out of the 100 minutes of P90X yoga yesterday and about 5 minutes in, I recalled why most dread it more than the other 5 days of workouts. Lots of lots of push-ups, lots of updogs, lots of chataranga, lots of plank….and of course the little yoga belly 7 segment towards the end…Today, after work, I commit to a second round of ab-ripper x for this week. Coupled with my regular work, workouts, I am feeling sore…everywhere! While the wedding is still over 6 months away, wedding dress shopping is not! I share my fitness progress only to hope to inspire others, hoping maybe just one person feels that inpiration….
Today is the day to turn pessimism into optimism. Whatever it is you are feeling down about, I hope you can turn it around and find a bounty of things to be optimistic about. Today we get to wipe clean our slates, and start a new! What a gift a new day really is.
SilverSneakers students please remember to bring your luncheon money in today or Monday. The luncheon is this Thursday at 12:30. So far we are just over 100 people and still growing. Always a great event.

I had to smile at your remark regarding eating “half portions” of a meal. I have been doing this little strategy my entire life. I have also had many comments regarding my little routine. (many of them were NOT positive, either) What I think is ironic is that NOW, it is the vogue thing to do. I see “half portion” suggestions announced on Dr. Oz and many other health related programs. I also have read many health and fitness magazines and “half portions” are recommended. I have NEVER been on a diet and I eat whatever I want. It is all about……….and will forever be………about portion control. So………people out there….try it. Trick your brain and your tummy. It really works!!
