While I was pouring my decaf this morning, it dawned on me that the physician I blogged about yesterday, is the same one who suggested I get myself off of caffeine due to my elevated heart-rate at a visit a couple of years ago. If it were only elevated at the time of the visit, I wouldn’t have listened, but during menopause I was waking up with palpitations on a regular basis (as well as having them during the day). I decided giving up my too much caffeine was a great place to start and within 3 days of weaning I was caffeine free. My heart rate came down 15-20 beats a minute. That’s a lot! So it’s only fair to give credit where it’s due. I have never missed the caffeine, and actually feel that I have as much or more energy than ever (and there are no caffeine “come down” slumps) and I know I did my heart a big favor by making it NOT have to pump so many times!
If you are looking for more energy, a very simple tip is to adjust your posture. Just standing up straight will help you breathe more efficiently giving you an instant energy boost. Additionally, you will look thinner when you aren’t slouching and also give off an aura of confidence…and we all know when we look better, we feel better.
I will be at TFC subbing Ellen’s 8:30 cardio/weights/mat class as well as her 10:00 SilverSneakers class and my own 11:30 SilverSneakers class. All classes are cancelled tomorrow and Ellen will be subbing for me on Monday.
Remember to set your biostat and repeat the mantra…”Every day, in every way, I will improve my physical and mental capacity.” Best way I know how to do that is thru physical exercise and I am off to get me some and hope that you find time in this day to get you some, too!
