There is no better day than today to start making some small changes that will ultimately lead to a happier and healthier (and what else is there, really?) you. While some people will start making dietary changes tomorrow (because today is still a holiday) and some will wait till Monday, EVERYONE can benefit by cultivating an attitude of gratitude starting TODAY. Gratitude can positively impact so much more than our emotions, it can benefit our physical health as well. Scientific studies clearly prove that people who have a grateful outlook on life get sick less often, sleep better, exercise more and have more energy, in general. The time to stop looking for someone else to make you happy is NOW.
There are so many ways to practice gratitude; keeping a written journal is great because writing down what we “have” helps us focus on the good in our lives, rather than what might be missing…taking a gratitude walk through a park, or anywhere in nature and paying attention with all your senses can improve mood and make us aware of the abundance that surrounds us…at the end of my classes, I like to sneak in a few minutes of silent gratitude which seems to give us all a sense of happiness and sometimes just stopping and focusing on the here and now makes us aware that the moment we are in, is actually a great one.
“The power, the wisdom, the creativity of the universe? You open the door to all that through gratitude.” –Deepak Chopra
Begin your practice of gratitude today, and I promise a few short weeks from now your whole life will be better.
