After finishing off, last, with the Hanged Man tarot card, I decided to tweak things a little today. While I often share “communal” oracle cards, tarot, for me, is more personal. Still I felt drawn to shuffle and see what one card popped out that could send a message that would resonate with YOU. You may be a group or just one person. It is always my feeling and hope that the message will resonate with whoever it is meant for.
When I read tarot cards, I try to read what I feel as opposed to what the books and websites say. It’s not fortune telling…somethings are learned and some are just intuition. I rely much more on my intuition and when I don’t agree with what the physical guides and Dr. Google say, I always go with my intuition.
When I shuffle I always wait for the cards to pop out of the deck as opposed to choosing them. I can shuffle decently, so it usually takes longer than I like for them to decide. Today, this card showed itself immediately.
The Nine of Cups
The nine of cups is known as one of the best in the deck. Cups are all about emotion. I don’t love this card in the way it is meant to be appreciated. The man, to me, looks like he is, or at least thinks he is, superior. Makes me think narcissist. His arms are crossed and makes me think his heart is closed off. His legs are spread and you can use your imagination on that one. His emotional “cups” are displayed so beautifully, yet they appear to be empty. He sits in front of an alter of some sort.
I do love the colors in this card. A lot of yellow makes me feel he is powerful and the shoes and bench are gold, which speaks to me of wealth. The red hat is also symbolizing material wealth. As for the number, 9 shows he is far along in his journey. While 1 represents new beginnings, 10 is completion.
As you look at this card, you may see yourself, or someone else you know.
My message from the 9 of cups is “OPEN UP YOUR HEART…be more from the universe and less from the body. Less grounding (aka root chakra) more connecting (aka crown chakra). You already have everything–material wealth and all the emotions, you just need to change your view or perspective (remember the Hanged Man?)
If you look up the meaning of this card, it is much much more positive. It says the man has a look of contentment on his face. He has just about reached his goals and his dreams are about to come true. Success in ALL things….work, love, health. He is similar to the Hermit, in that he enjoys his solitude. That he is ready enjoy the next phase of life!
I don’t disagree with the books, I just really think this guy has to show a little more love and appreciation, so he can truly see and enjoy all he has. What we appreciate always appreciates, after all!
Tarot does not intend to predict the future. It is meant to make you ponder!
