It is becoming more and more apparent that the blue team is truly the underdog. While I believe age is a case of mind over matter, and if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter, age related injuries and a natural “slowing down,”is just a fact of life. Back to that in a minute.
Last night we got to see 3 past contestants come back, each to work with a different team. Hannah came back ( looking incredibly hot!) to work with the black team, Adam from season 10 came back to work with the red team and Marci (I love Marci) came back to work with the blue team. Marci looks so buff, but then again, she does own a gym. I had to wonder how Courtney is doing, but if she was mentioned, I didn’t catch it. Red team went hiking, which is something I would love to do sometime soon. My boy Ramon took on the leadership roll for his team and carried the equivalent of his lost pounds, in sand bags, for 5 miles so that no one else on his team had to. Blue team hit the beach for their workout and black team hit the kitchen for a Jennie O commercial aka a cooking lesson, and then the gym.
The challenge was interesting, but here’s where the age came in, at least for Bonnie. The challenge was a relay race that would have the team members passing off a box filled with letter from home. Once the person passed off the box, he would run to the front. Once you had the box in your hand, you couldn’t step forward, just pass that box off to the person in front of you. The big catch was that the contestants would be faced with the elements of heat, rain with lots of mud, wind and even snow. Red team took a quick lead but black team soon found out if they stepped up the pace, they could pass them. Poor blue team. How could Bonnie manipulate through that snow and mud with her knees in the condition they are in? My heart broke for her, Becky and Mike. In the end, the black team would emerge winners and the opportunity to read those letters from home. Alison tells them that there is a surprise and they will ALL get to read their letters, but black team would also have video chat with those family members. Lots of tears came with those chats….of course.
Last chance workout found Anna and her team out on the new BL tennis courts. Anna let them through lots of tennis drills and the object of this game was to have their feet never stop moving. I enjoyed this and think the team did, too. Bob took his team in the pool and though I love working out in the pool, I didn’t think this was a great place for the last chance workout but Bob knows his stuff. Red team hit the gym and while Dolvett is growing on me some, I still am unimpressed with his militant training. He tells his team he is sick of losing. I hate to say it’s not about him, but it’s not!
The weigh in was rather typical for this point of the competition. Blue team weighed first and Bonnie had a great loss of 7 pounds, definitely giving her another week on the ranch. Black team weighed next and they hit their goal assuring them all another week. No double digits for either team this week. Red team is up last and while the girls had very small numbers, Vinny and Ramon blew up that weigh in with 8 and 11 pounds lost, respectively. Ramon had the only double digit loss this week and has, by the way, been my top pick since week one and I continue to like him more and more.
With blue team facing another elimination it is up to Bonnie to choose between sending home Becky or Coach Mike. Hard that it was, she sent Mike home and he was pissed. Hey, he is still going to the Super Bowl. With only 2 people left on the blue team, I suspect they will be juggling teams around soon. Maybe even next week when we see Bob leave the ranch to go home with with Sunny. Not sure what that’s about, but that leaves me counting the days till next Tuesday.

Hey there Bon,
I’m wondering if I’ve heard this before from you or…?
“age is a case of mind over matter, and if you don’t mind, it doesn’t matter”
I LOVE IT!
Baseball great Satchell Paige gets the credit for that quote, Carole. I love it, too…and I only mind a little 🙂

Really enjoyed BL Tuesday night. I kind of wish Bonnie hadn’t been the BL of the Blue Team as she is most definitely the “weakest link” but you just never know what will happen with that scale.
Dolvett is so Jekyl and Hyde in and out of the gym. He’s really trying to connect with his team and I can see that he cares for and about them, but his coaching style is just so freaking loud and militant. I like to be pushed (actually I LOVE to be pushed) during a workout, but I want my trainer to motivate ME. I don’t want the same speech he would give to any other client, I want him to know ME well enough to know how to keep ME going. I think he has as much to learn as the contestants.
