Looking for still more ways to change up your workout. Sometimes the simplest changes make for one great workout and help overcome boredom, especially on a day you just can’t push yourself to do the same old, same old. Try lifting half your usual amount of weight and do twice as many repetitions. Using the machines? Try getting your back off the back rest and engage your core throughout all your machine work. How about grabbing your free weights and getting on just one leg…and then the other, but not both. That will not only add different muscle and muscle fiber to your workout, but engage your nervous system as you have to THINK about what you are doing, not just do it mindlessly. Finally, next time you pick up some weights, try stopping in the middle of your first rep and just holding that position for as long as you can. Think about going half way down into a squat and just staying there. Talk about work. You probably will hate it, but your body will definitely love it! I always love the way we can sweat without even moving a muscle.
Doing things differently to make things happen. That’s exactly what our Dolphins did yesterday and what a big win! Great jobs by Ryan and Reggie. Keeping a watch on Texan’s Arian Foster, another good game for him and them, making them 2-0.
As we wake up on this Rosh Hashana morning, I wish a happy, and most importantly healthy to all. I WILL be at the gym for my regularly scheduled classes. See you there, here, or somewhere!
