This weekend, I look forward to catching up a bit on the DVR, especially to watch the PBS special with Deepak, which I recorded on Thursday. I am also looking forward to finding ways to act out the Saturday theme, which is: turning work into recreation. Chopra says this: “The weekend is for play and relaxation, but too often we find ourselves still working, either around the house or with extra work from the job. Today, find a way to enjoy recreation, and make it true recreation. Participate in an activity that makes you feel renewed. Plant a tree, spend time with children drawing pictures on a sidewalk, explore a nearby woods, get up early and watch the sunrise.” Chopra goes on to remind us that as we are doing these things we need to reinforce the message “Now I am re-creating myself.”
I always start my Saturdays working, but am eternally thankful that my work is always recreation! And I am excited to bring some new Broadway music to the gym this morning. When you sing and dance your way through work (and/or your workouts) it’s about as recreational as it gets!
Whatever you do on your Saturdays, make sure to think about turning work into recreation and you will have no choice but to feel re-created!
