Where to begin, this morning. Watched Extreme Makeover with Chris Powell, and got to meet his wife, Heidi, this week. She is also a trainer and he enlisted her help when his transformation subject, Sally, was not hitting her goals. Sally, 45, was different than most of the other transformation clients because she just became overweight in the past decade or so, started her 1 year weight loss journey at 335 pounds. Apparently she had a very serious knee injury that started her weight spiraling out of control. I found it interesting that they kept flashing to just ONE snapshot of her from her thin days, sitting in a bathing suit. Would have figured if she was thin for the first 30 or so years there would have been more pics…just mentioning. Anyway, any woman in their mid 40s who has ever tried to lose weight, knows how challenging it can be. Chris believed her biggest problem is that she makes excuses so when she failed to hit her weight loss goals, he invited her out to Arizona to spend to weeks with him and Heidi. Damn, Heidi has this perfect body with a big belly bump, and we learn that they have a bunch of kids, already. What a cute, fit and perfect couple they are. For all (myself included) that at one time or another questioned his sexuality, shame on us! Interestingly enough, though she doesn’t hit her 90, 180, or 270 day weight goal, she finishes the year under 200 on the scale, down 138 pounds in total. That is an awesome transformation. Moral of the story, shoot for the moon and you’ll probably hit the stars.
In the sports arena, it was cheers for our own Lebron James, who is not only the best basketball player in the league, but did apparently in the Olympics, too! Its jeers for Chad Johnson aka Chad Ochocinco (who names themselves a number, anyway??) who headbutted with his wife, Evelyn. Doesn’t matter how it went down, Chad. Headbutting might be appropriate on the field, but never with a woman. Kind of like hitting, slapping, punching, pushing. It’s just off limits. Lost your football job (coach says he isn’t worth his trouble) and your reality show. Talk about a bad choice.
Get out there today and set some goals for you. Rethink perfection. Goals are just goals. Not meeting them doesn’t make you a failure, not setting them, might. Make good choices and remember that domestic violence is NEVER acceptable. Want to teach your sons and daughters something really important. Teach them that! I’m out to walk the natural redhead. Namaste.
