This week, it was team captains. Obvious picks, mama Marci for the black team and already self-appointed red team leader, Justin. I think the fact that it’s mostly boys against girls (instead of red against black) is really unfair! OK, life, in fact, is unfair, yet all things work out so we’ll see. Only one person is allowed in the kitchen (I admit that I don’t know who usually cooks…do they cook for themselves, or get help?) and the team captains pick…Olivia for the black team and Ken for the red. Only 2 people get to workout with the trainers.. Marci picks Sarah and Hannah, Justin, Ken and Kaylee. While Ken has a lot of hats to wear this week, the choices to work for red, in the end.
Meanwhile, Brett sounds as if he came up with an incredibly unique idea, when he loads up backpacks for team, each filled with the amount of weight the contestants have loss, thus far. Definitely not unique and clearly very unsafe! These people did NOT carry their extra weight JUST on their backs. Seasons that have put the contestants in weighted suits or well distributed on their bodies have made much more sense. I hated watching Kaylee and Ken struggle in that very dangerous way…but that’s me and this is TV.
Ken and Olivia realize how time consuming it is to cook for their entire teams, knowing each person has different caloric needs, etc. They seem to do a great job, though for the chefs, getting in workouts is no doubt, challenging. While I am personally not attached to anyone on the red team, Ken did a great job of making it ALL happen. He even knew how many calories and how much sodium was in each serving of food he prepared.
I liked the mud challenge but again–UNFAIR! How could ANY of the woman possibly maneuver that “stepper” like the men, especially Rulon?? But ahhh…maybe this is how life evens out because as the men were clearly so much stronger, so were they a bit less graceful. Stepping into the mud, cost them and black team wins! Yay, girls. They split 6,000 dollars but the real challenge will be on the scale.
If there has to be a product placement commercial, I was glad to see it was for Larabars. I love them. One of the “cleanest” (only 2 or 3 ingredients ever in their bars) snack bars I have ever found, and many of them are vegan, but nature of being simply nuts and fruit. They are a staple in my pantry (and my purse).
There was a lot of “getting into the contestants heads,” this week. Not only have I not “bonded” with the red team contestants, but I haven’t bonded with the new trainers yet, either. I find Cara’s voice does NOT fit with her boxer self. There is a point where she is screaming and pushing Justin and then they are looking in one another’s eyes and it seemed very inappropriate –as if they were about to embrace, kiss passionately and rip each other’s clothes off. Anyone else feel that way?
Red team kicked butt in the weigh in. Then again, with Rulon and Moses still in the 300s and all of the women except Sarah in one-derland, it still seems unfair. I know its about percentages, but I feel badly that while Olivia, Hanna and Jen lose small numbers, and its just not enough, Justin, Rulon and Moses lose 8 pounds and they are gods.
Marci assumes she will take the hit for the black team, should they lose the weigh in. Every week I love this woman more. She does NOT have enough weight to lose to be the Biggest Loser, so I realize she will get eliminated at some point, but I enjoy her personality on every episode. I can’t believe she lost 5 more pounds, weighing in at 162. Who would think, certainly not her, that she would end up with immunity this week, having lost the greatest percentage of weight on the black team. Sadly, we say so long to Sarah, who was NOT an original black team member. Thankfully my favorites, are safe another week.
Sarah looks excellent now at 169 pounds, down 92 so far. After having miscarriages due to her weight, she feels ready to make that baby and my prediction is she will announce it at the finale. Just a feeling. Next week the two teams get to work as one for a chance at group immunity. I hear there will also be a shocking moment. That’s TV for you.
Having a winning Wednesday. Meet you back here, tomorrow.
