This morning, it’s some random thoughts in no particular order…
Man of Steel review:
Loved the 3D. Hated the way too much violence. The new Superman is definitely easy on the eyes and I hear his training was void of enhancement drugs, but who really knows? The movie was too long, but all in all I am not sorry I saw it. Everyone loves a hero.
Mind over matter: The quote I posted yesterday, will be one I will repeat as a mantra. I did just that while running yesterday morning and completed a two mile run focusing on the distance I had already traveled instead of worrying about how far I still had to go. The other mantra I repeat regularly is one I do with my SilverSneakers students. We set our biostats (the age we would like to feel) and say every day in every way, I will improve my physical and mental capacity. Then we focus on the biostat we have chosen. I honestly have to say, while running this week, I don’t feel one day older than I did 20 years ago. Mind over matter. Never underestimate YOUR brain. It is the Commander of YOU.
What’s for breakfast: Since everyone always asks what vegans eat, I will share with you my favorite new breakfast. I take half of a whole wheat pita and warm it (microwave for about 15 seconds is the easiest way). I spread about 2 teaspoons of peanut butter on it and then smash a half a banana into it and throw some raisins in. It takes less than a minute to make. It is about 225-250 calories. It has potassium, healthy fats, some protein, carbs and it tastes pretty decadent. I have always been a big fan of the peanut butter and banana mix, but in the pita it’s warm and easy to eat on the run, which is exactly what I am going to do right now. With earlier DSL issues, I just got to sit down and the computer and it’s already time to hit the gym.
Make it a beautiful Saturday. Remember, tomorrow is dad’s day!
