Due to the fact that I got hit with a lot of spam last night, I spent a little too much time in the delete mode this morning! Since this site is about fitness and PEACE, I won’t b*tch and moan about it, but I did lose a good deal of blogging time!
I also took some time respond to a reader/student who is in desire of some of her own motivation. I do think those of us that list “losing weight” as a resolution, should be giving a lotof thought to how we will achieve that goal. It’s not enough to want to lose weight, we have to set ourselves up with a game plan that will make us successful! Think about your next grocery shop…think about what you will do FRIDAY (yes, FRIDAY) to work towards your goal. Maybe it’s as simple as a good long walk and cleaning out your fridge and pantry. Posting motivating pictures and getting yourself a journal to track your calorie intake. For those of us with phones that are really computers, there are great, free apps for fitness, nutrition, personal trainers, music and so much more, that can all help make your journey much easier this year!
I would love to hear what your plan is, what motivates you and what you will be doing to achieve your weight and fitness goals this coming year. Be excited about all the possibilities that exist for you. SEE the YOU you want to be! All things are possible!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DEREK!

Thanks Bonni for taking the time to respond to my concerns. Carolina will be at the gym this Saturday (Thank Goodness!) so I can’t take you up on your offer to meet – but I appreciate you being willing to help me with this.
I’ve been thinking about what is going on with me and frankly I believe that these feelings stem from my dad and his constant criticism of nearly everything in my life.
Last summer – after my surgery – I had a few sessions with a really wonderful therapist who helped me thru my recovery period. I think after the 1st of the year I will set up an appointment with her and see if I can’t resolve this issue so it stops haunting me.
Obviously, I can’t cut my dad loose (no matter how much I may want to) so I will just have to deal with it.
Amazing! – I feel better already! Making a decision regarding a course of action feels positive and proactive and puts me in control of the situation.
Thanks Bonni – I hope it’s OK that I get so personal on your website. Please let me know.
Oh and one more thing – HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEREK !

Hey, I LOVE you getting personal…i think unless we get to the root of our issues, they just remain issues…someday we’ll talk about the dad stuff…my dad is gone for almost 10 years, but trust me, i have some issues, too….my dad told once me i never finish things that i start, i that stayed with me forever…he is not here to see me still married (28 years) and still teaching fitness (28 years)…i think i take a very strong approach though in wanting to prove people wrong!!!! that is often MY “M.O.” –for instance, ron once told me “girls can’t do pullups” and though i still can’t, i never stop trying—i look forward to the day i can do them just to say “ha”….and if i never get there, i’ll have gotten stronger along the way……….i refuse to be victimized! if talking to a therapist helps you, than you should definitely do it….maybe just a couple of sessions to get your head back to where i know you can accomplish anything you want to!!!!
my offer remains and maybe one day soon we can go for a long walk and just talk…i know we share a lot of commonalities and it would be fun and productive to toss things off one another because saying things aloud helps us own up!
keep thinking positive–you have a lot to look forward to this year….you surely look awesome for a grandma!!!!! again, never forget how far you HAVE come on this journey….
thanks for the birthday wishes…my first born turns 26 today—gulp! how does this happen that our children get older than us????
happy, healthy (in body and mind) to you …….see you on saturday….i am ready to start the new year
