Picked up a paper at Whole Foods yesterday. It is called the Happy Herald. Gotta love anytime people report GOOD news. Once, when I was probably in my 20s, I had a dream that I was in NYC looking for the Happy and Fun Times. Upon rising, I thought it was a wacky but great idea for a newspaper. It makes me happy that people think the same way! Their is also a local paper called Healthy Times. Though they are all designed to sell advertising, it sure is better than reporting mostly bad news, as most media does.
There is, however, some good news even in my home paper, this morning. The Marlins beat the Mets, good news to us Marlin fans. Lung cancer is declining as more people stop smoking cigarettes. That’s great news. The national unemployment rate is the lowest in 2 years. Weight loss surgery reduces migraines. That makes me think weight loss in general would also reduce them…
Personally, I am happy to report the Braggs Apple Cider vinegar continues to seem effective. I started taking my blood pressure at Publix about once a week just to see if I might notice any changes in it. While it has never been high, I have to say the last 2 times I took it, it was considerably lower than it has been for years. Last reading was 109 over 60, I think. The week before it was also 109 over something. If this continues, I would definitely attribute it to the ACV. I see my cholesterol results often as a blood donor and I am due, so we’ll see where that number is at, compared to 2 months ago (before I started the daily tonic).
For those of you that live shop at Publix, Gardein products are buy one get one free (BOGO) this week. I stocked up on chicken tenders and beefless tips. The hot wings are hard to find! Mitch found them miles away at a Whole Foods store, this past week. My freezer is like a commercial for Gardein!
As you travel through your weekend, keep in mind this line, once again from the lululemon bag:
“The conscious brain can only hold one thought at a time. Chose a positive thought.”

I can speak from personal experience about the migraine / weight loss issue. In 2004-2005 I lost 80 pounds (of which I gained 10 back – but whatever). When I was over 200 pounds I suffered from debilitating migraines 1-2 times a month. I would be in excruciating pain (around 8-10 on a pain scale) for 24 – 72 hours per episode. Since the weight loss, my migraine frequency is down to 2 – 4 a YEAR! The pain level is still the same and they generally stick around for 24 – 48 hours but knowing that another is NOT 2 or 3 weeks away makes them much easier to deal with.
Does the vinegar have to be Braggs ? I have some ACV in the pantry and tried your concoction, but I couldn’t stop shuddering (Bleck!)
Love your garden. I’ve wanted to do something like that but frankly I HATE yard work and wasn’t sure if it was something I would follow through on.
Not sure what my energy level will be this morning Bonni – I awoke at 2:15am and was unable to get back to sleep. I was able to catch up on some of my DVR TV shows though 🙂
Thanks, Carol, for sharing your personal experience with headaches…its always hard for me to imagine you 70 pounds heavier!!! YOU should be so proud of yourself for maintaining such an incredible life change! As for the ACV, it doesnt HAVE to be Braggs, but it does have to be one that has the “mother,” and Braggs does…thats where all the good stuff is stored (in the pulp)…the very first time I drank the drink I DID NOT add the honey and it made me shudder for a bit, too….next day, I did equal parts ACV and honey and the difference was significant! I cant say I love it, but I definitely don’t shudder and the trade off seems well worth the daily habit.
As for the garden, if you don’t like yard work, its not for you! It does NOT require a lot of work, but it is daily… I water for a few minutes every day, and once a week I pick off dead leaves, pull weeds, etc. I find it very good for my mind…
CarolE…i was wrong about the measurements…things look way smaller than they are 🙂 We measured the “lettuce” garden and it is 8 feet wide by 2 feet deep….that must make our other garden even wider than 8 feet, but definitely not as deep (just the border under the eaves of the house)…yesterday I planted a new cherry tomato plant and some romaine lettuce (which it may be way to hot for already, we’ll see)–
