Reading yesterday’s paper I stumbled upon an interesting new kid in town, the Propet Packable Washable Travel Shoe, which is actually a sneaker. Weighing in at just 7 ounces, this walking shoe can be folded for packing and they can be washed, as well. The nylon-mesh uppers allow air to circulate so feet stay cool and also so they dry quickly after washing. They slip on an off more like a loafer and the writer suggests they run a bit small (about a half size). While they clearly can’t offer the support that our favorite sneakers, do, Terry Gardner, who wrote the article for the Tribune Newspapers, said they “have enough support for walking long distances.”
Because sneakers are my business shoe, I am always hesitant to pack them when vacationing. Additionally, they take up so much space. There Propets look like the exact compromise and I may just have to get a pair. At $59.95 they don’t brake the bank. They are currently available from hammacherschlemmer.com, zappos.com and other on-line retailers. This might be a good one to keep in mind for a traveler on your holiday list.
Speaking of sneakers, it’s getting on time to get mine on and get moving. Make it a marvelous Monday.
