With so many fancy ways to measure our weight, from digital scales, tape measure, and calipers to calculating our BMI, getting dunked underwater in a tank to measure body fat and deciding if our hip to waist ratio is ok, etc., I just loved this quote by basketball legend Charles Barkely:
“If you want to know if you’re fat or not, just stand in front of a mirror naked – the mirror never lies.”
Barkely has lost 43 pounds following the Weight Watchers Program. WW is definitely NOT just for women. Barkely says he never feels hungry and is thrilled to be getting his sexy back. (**This blogger has no vested interest in Weight Watchers–never even been inside one, except that I have seen it work time and time again for my students and friends.
But back to speaking of sexy and basketball, let’s go HEAT!

I have never been on WW, either, but I have friends who have lost an enormous amount of weight and maintained their loss with WW. As I look over the program, it makes so much sense to me. Eating healthy, portioned meals is the most successful way to lose weight. My friend is still on her WW journey. Yes, she has had some setbacks and hit some plateaus. but she keeps rebounding back. Barbara Jean attends meetings each week, works out with a trainer and connects with me each and every Sunday. She is still losing weight and I am very proud of her. So…….hooray for WW and keep up the stellar job, BJ!!!!

Interestingly euognh, haven’t tchoued a scale in years. I care about feeling good and comfortable. I have no idea how much I weigh, save for doctors visits. My father was a nutritionist and I grew up learning what foods are good foods, where to get what vitamins, and the best ways and things to eat to make you live a long and comfortable life.It never had anything to do with any American fat-hating sensibilities. I typically abide by a middle eastern diet consisting of lots of fish, nuts, and whole grains. Those people are not skinny by any means, but they live long with a strong and durable body.
