There is nothing like a wedding. Last night we witnessed Jamie and Ryan exchange wedding vows, rings and so much love for one another at their beautiful ceremony on the Hollywood, Florida beach. With rain threatening, but not coming soon enough to even slightly spoil the ceremony or the outdoor cocktail party, it was just enough to keep the mother of the bride, Shelli, a bit nervous… but in the end, the weather (and EVERYTHING) was perfect! I loved the music played on the beach and the warm, intimate ceremony that the Justice of the Peace, performed. Blending traditions with a sand-pouring segment as well as Ryan breaking the glass as the guests yelled “mazel tov,” was perfect. We saw old friends, danced, (a lot) drank, ate, laughed and cried. I asked Shelli to order a vegan meal and after salad they, to my surprise, brought me Gardein “chicken” cutlets with rice and veggies. Delicious and impressive on the part of the caterers at the Crown Royal Hotel. Also a great reminder that you should never feel uncomfortable asking for an alternative meal. What a great night and what a great job by the Ventura and Kaufman families. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of such a joyful occasion. We wish the newlyweds a lifetime of love.
This week brought still another interesting twist in the SilverSneaker story. If you are one of my students in that program please know that I WILL BE STAYING at Tamarac Fitness Center, despite the change in plans at Bally, Coral Springs. I was thrown for quite a loop when late Thursday I learned that Bally had a last minute change in plans and was NOT closing the following day, but instead remaining open as they say they will be opening a new facility in a nearby (undisclosed) location in about a year. Corporate was excited to call the instructors with the good news and assume that we would all be picking up exactly where we left off, but I already made other arrangements and wrapped my brain around change being a very good thing. Ron and Wendie gladly welcomed us to their gym and made all the arrangements to allow us to start there immediately following our last week of classes at Bally. While some instructors were happy (and understandably so!) to get back their many classes at Bally, the decision for me took very little pondering. Unsure of what may really happen down the road with Bally and rather sure that they wont be putting any effort into the existing club while certain that TFC is excited to be hosting the program and the classes and willing to build a program that will be in YOUR best interest, I will be staying at TFC. I will still be teaching 11:30 and 12:30 classes on Mondays and 11:30 classes Wednesdays AND Fridays. This will be disappointing news to some but hopefully good news to others…For now we have suspended the Tuesday class, but again, this is all subject to GROWTH. I need you all to understand that YOU must do whatever is best for YOU! I remain committed to bringing you the best workouts that I can and look forward to expanding our program with classes such as yoga, once everything falls into place. Again, remember that you are NOT married to one club and can take different classes at different clubs. Now you just have more choices, and you gotta love choice! (We did find a standing fan in the closet, so we can set that up, tomorrow.) Hope to see many of you, there. Please spread the word.
Have a peaceful Sunday. GO HEAT!!!
