So much to say, so little time. Prior to watching the season opening of Biggest Loser, I watched an episode of Dr. Oz from earlier this week, with Jillian, Bob, Dolvett and a few past Biggest Loser contestants. I like the dynamics between the 3 trainers and think it will be an awesome season. Jillian self proclaimed herself a bigger bitch than ever with less patience, now having 2 young children. Having carried neither of them, she looks as great as ever and my guess is her partner, Heidi, who carried one of them, has been whipped back into shape in no time. My heart will always belong to Bob, who’s training methods and personality is most like my own. He has been on the show since day 1 and still brings it 14 seasons later! Also on the show were Olivia and Hannah, who still look great, Tara who was probably the most serious contestant ever and Patrick who went on to lose another 1o pounds after winning his season. I have to wonder about ALL the other contestants as we all know how hard maintaining weight loss is! The 4 contestants and the 3 trainers all shared some tips that have really helped them and I loved the one Tara shared, which was to wear (on your dominant wrist) a “goal” bracelet so every time you reach for something (good, bad or otherwise) you will be reminded of your goal and can take a second to choose between, say, the cupcake or your goal. I think it’s a great tip for everyone, especially if you are emotionally driven! Patrick’s tip was to always carry an emergency food bag. Great idea. I am not that organized or formal, but I always like to have some nuts or trail mix in my bag. The sisters suggested planning a cheat day with all the foods you crave during the month and the trainers showed us some of their go to exercises, like burpees, and a superman/boat combo. Nothing particularly special there, just a reminder that you have to do the work both in the kitchen and in the gym.
And then came the show. This season the show is addressing childhood obesity and their are 3 youths participating as “junior ambassadors,” though they cannot be eliminated and they won’t be weighing in. They participated in last night’s challenge, by helping direct their teammates to find a letter in a maze of balls, but they did go home after, and will be back and forth between home and the ranch throughout the season. That Bingo has quite a personality! While Jillian’s white team won the challenge and earned an extra 5 pounds to add to their combined loss on the scale, they actually lost the weigh in and the person with the least percentage of weight lost was immediately eliminated and we said goodbye to TC before we got to know him. I have a feeling he will be back. Not so sure about Nicki, a beautiful young woman who couldn’t handle it at the ranch and walked out on Jillian’s team. Wow, Jillian is back but already down 2 of her 5 contestants. Of course the numbers on the scale were as huge and amazing as ever. I keep in mind that this is a reality show and don’t necessarily believe those numbers reflected just one week of weight loss…someone lost 29 pounds and I just don’t believe that is even scientifically possible!
As the trainers reminded us on the Dr. Oz show, you can’t try this stuff at home. These contestants have people watching over them 24/7. What we can do is try to relate to some of the contestants and find motivation from them. Personally, I know I find motivation from ALL of them.
Tonight, another episode at it’s regularly scheduled time…8 pm eastern time, Monday nights. If you need some motivation to lose weight or get moving, there is NO time like this first Monday of 2013 to get busy and watching this show just might help…but even if this show isn’t for you, today IS the day. Excuse time is over and your new you starts now.
Please excuse any and all typos! I am off and running…

Interesting that the producers (or whoever) divided up the teams. In the past there has been a challenge in which the contestants are able to choose their trainers. I wish they would invite 1 more person to the ranch since Nikki decided to quit in the first week. There are thousands of people who audition and it seems such a waste to have a vacancy and not fill it.
