The first batch of compost has been placed around the stubborn mango tree and now I expect it to grow like…a tree! It was very exciting to see that rich, dark, highly nutritious soil come from our kitchen scraps and garden discards. That’s what I call reducing, recycling and reusing. The second batch will now sit and cook down, while the bin we just emptied will start all over again. Since the winter gardens are still producing some tomatoes I haven’t completely cleaned them out, but once I do, I will be using the second batch of compost to build up the soil before replanting…and so on and so on. It is said that compost is the most nutritious soil you can use in your garden, so I expect next winter’s crop to be better than this years “virgin/experimental,” garden. While a summer garden in Florida IS possible, I passed. It’s just too challenging to keep the leaves from burning up on these “feels like 105” days! Anyway, it will definitely give me something to get excited about in the fall.
Today will be the LAST Monday that I will be teaching the 12:30 SilverSneaker class. I will be at TFC for my usual early morning class and then 11:30 and 12:30 SilverSneaker classes. Effective next week, all SS classes will be at 10, or 11:30. Ellen’s classes will be at 10 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. My classes will be at 11:30 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Then beginning JULY 5th, I will be there every Tuesday at 11:30 doing YogaStretch. This class IS part of the SilverSneakers program, but of course, as always, all classes are open to all members. YogaStretch is designed to be a very gentle yoga class done with a chair (sometimes standing, sometimes sitting). It is designed to increase range of motion, improve breathing function, lower blood pressure and so much more! We look forward to adding this session to our schedule as we continue to grow stronger, more flexible and more at peace together. More about this as it gets a little closer.
Congratulations to Kyle and Nicole on their new space, together. So excited for you!!
Have a magical Monday, one and all.
