What started out as 15 competitors, culminated last night in the 2 hour finale of Biggest Loser. When the show ended last week (which was actually about 2 months ago in real time) there were 4 contestants left. 2, Danni and Jeff, were assured spots in the finale, while America voted between Jackson and Joe. Thank you America, for voting Jackson into the final 3. All four looked incredible last night, none of them like their previous selves of 5 months ago. Before the final 3 would weigh in, the eliminated contestants would do so, competing for the at home prize of $100,000. We also got to see our 3 “kids” or junior ambassadors for change, Sunni, Lyndsay and Bingo at different points of the show and they all looked great. Bingo is a little pistol and Sunni looked beautiful and beaming in her pretty pink prom dress. I am still having a hard time with Lindsay and the cheer-leading thing, personally, but OK.
Back to the eliminated contestants, we first see Pam, Nate and Alex. They all lost big numbers–71, 99 and 84 pounds, respectively. Alex had the highest percentage of weight loss in that group. Next to reveal their new selves and get weighed in, Francelina, TC, Big Mike and Kate. (It’s hard to even remember some of these people). Fran lost 95 pounds, taking the lead from Alex. TC, who was only on the ranch for a week lost 110 pounds, Big Mike (now a much smaller version of himself) lost 136 pounds and Kate, who looked adorable, lost 64 pounds. When we see the last 4 contestants, everyone is blown away. Though we already saw Joe in the beginning, it’s worth saying that though he didn’t make it to the final 3, he looked absolutely fabulous–lean, glowing and so healthy! His smile would not go away, because gaining back health is a happiness that can’t be contained. I did not recognize Lisa, a mother of 4, who took on the home challenge with her family and changed herself from a frumpy, sad looking mom to a tall, slim, hot mama! She got on the scale first and lost 108 pounds/43.09 % of her weight and took the lead from Fran. David, also looking half his original size lost 102 pounds and next up is Gina, who most of us grew to dislike during the season. She lost an amazing 113 pounds and 46.12% of her weight and took the lead from Lisa, but could she hold it against Joe who was the last to weigh? I would have liked to see Joe win the at home prize, but his 147 pounds only amounted to 40.38% which gave Gina the big money. I was disappointed.
Finally. Time for the final 3 to come back and weigh in. Since we have already seen how amazing Jackson looks, it’s only Jeff and Danni left to show their big reveal. OMG. Who even knew that was Danni? As she busted through the image of her old self, it was hard to believe it was really her. I hated the hairdo. Hated it. Made her look like a superhero or something weird, but the body, OMG. Jackson was first on the scale and seemed incredibly happy with his 138 pound loss/42.07%. Next up, Jeff, down 181 pounds and 46.65%. Finally, it’s time for Danni to hit the scale and she needed to lose more than 120 pounds to beat Jeff. Amazingly……….she lost……….121 pounds and the confetti fell and she, after a long season of incredibly hard work, became the season 14 Biggest Loser.
Last night, I had some concerns about how Danni looked. Did she do a lot of drugs to get to her current weight? Did she do and take things that might not have been so healthy? My guess is –probably. She seemed pretty spaced out a few times, but maybe she was just in awe of the crowds and the lights and was just overly excited about the whole thing. I felt MUCH better this morning when I saw her on the Today Show. With her hair down she looked much more like herself and seemed much calmer and poised. Her tip to everyone at home–just keep trying. If you fall, pick yourself back up and try again. When asked what she’ll be doing with the money, she said her and Jeff made a pact that the winner would take the other on a much needed vacation. She said she would be bringing Francelina, too, since her and Jeff found romance on the ranch. Looks like they were big winners, too. Actually, all 15 contestants were big winners in the most important ways.
Danni looked amazing – I’m talking body not hair. I heard she gained 19 pounds of muscle during her transformation. AMAZING!
This was the first year that there was no footage from home and I really wish we knew what they actually go through to get to the stage looking like they do. It’s obvious Danni concentrated on muscle growth. I was incredibly happy to see her win.
HATED that Gina won the “at home” prize. I was rooting for Joe or Lisa. They both looked amazing, as did most everyone.
The “kids” looked great. They all lost between 43 and 51 pounds each! Way to go! I was sad that Sunni’s mom doesn’t seem to be on the program. When family members lost weight Allison acknowledged them in the audience, but there was nothing said during Sunni’s segment.
All in all – it was a successful season (if somewhat boring). I kept switching back or forth between BL and DWTS which started last night.
Carol, I did some switching too, between BL, DWTS and Criminal Minds which is my new addiction. I noticed that Sunni’s mom was not acknowledged and she looked pretty big. It is a too bad! I thought Joe and Lisa both looked so healthy and aglow. Thanks for your input.
Carole–every single time I see that LDPT it just makes me smile from ear to ear. Thanks. Good luck at work today!

‘Gotta admit that watching the Biggest Loser isn’t “my thing”. But your exuberance, Bon, is infectious!
And I have to quote you from today’s blog because these words of yours are priceless!
“gaining back health is a happiness that can’t be contained”
I’m posting THAT on my white board at work. It’ll provoke interesting conversations!
Thanks again – my LDPT!
