Thanks, Carol, sharing this great link below, which gives us the current status of a few dozen Biggest Loser contestants. Most of those included on the list were from 2008 and 2009 (just a few from earlier seasons). GO ALI. She was a force to be reckoned with from the start and seems to be doing better than most. Now I have to wonder about ALL the people NOT on the list. Maintaining weight loss is so much more challenging than losing the weight in the first place…hint, hint, Carol. I always applaud Carol for keeping those pounds off and I applaud all of you for your efforts to reach and maintain a healthy weight. It has become more and more obvious to me that a healthy weight combined with healthful eating and an (almost) daily exercise routine, seems to be the surest way to wellness.
But don’t believe it because I said it. You really can’t believe everything you read, (or hear on TV, radio or the Internet!) Do your own research and be your own guinea pig. Switch up your eating and exercise for a few weeks and then get some blood work done. After about 6 weeks of healthy eating and exercising you should see most of your numbers come down.. cholesterol, blood pressure, heart rate, glucose and of course weight and inches. In as much as I read this, it is because I see it daily in my students that I know it is true. The best part of my job is when people come tell me they have reduced their medication, or they sleep better, or the pain in their leg, hip, back, etc., has gone away. Thank you for sharing your stories with me. Those stories help me spread the word.

Thanks to all that came out for our first YogaStretch class yesterday. I think you all did really well, especially knowing that some of you had never taken any type of yoga class before. I look forward to growing our yoga practice together.
I refuse to comment on the Casey Anthony case except to say that I am glad that I live in a country that allows for a jury, and share this quote, by the genius himself, Mr. Einstein, which really sums up how I feel and remember that NOT GUILTY does not equate with INNOCENCE. Since I was not on the jury, I clearly have NO business judging.
“Let every man judge according to his own standards, but what he himself read, not by what others tell him.”

Thanks for the “kudos” Bonni. It’s nice to have someone give you a pat on the back. I’ve been feeling like a bit of a fraud lately, because I AM having trouble maintaining the weight loss. I eat healthfully and am very active, but still I am gaining and it’s just so frustrating ! I have decided to make a few changes and see if I can get the scale moving in the down direction. I have started to add in more weight training and back off on some cardio. So if any of you don’t see me in class, you’ll know I’m still at it, just in a different way. Also, I have been consuming a lot more soy protein since becoming “veganish” and I wonder if it’s problematic for my hormones to be dealing with that at this stage in my life.
I guess we’ll see what happens – right ? In the meantime, I continue to be grateful for so much and so many people who have come into my life via the gym and my health regimen. Thank you all.
