“The only things certain in life are death and taxes.”
–Benjamin Franklin
These two “certains” collided this week when our way too young accountant and long time family friend, Jay Cooperman, passed away unexpectedly. This is a man who not only took care of our family professionally, but brought tons of insight into our lives with his thoughts and words. So many years ago, Jay taught Mitch and I, by example, the rewards of paying off our debts and not being owned by our credit cards. This wisdom helped us to move from our smaller home, to our current home as we “followed” him to Coral Springs. We, and certainly so many others, are still in shock after learning this news last night. Our heartfelt sympathy to his his forever partner in life, his lovely wife, Debbie, and their families. RIP Jay and know that your positive impact on our family, the long talks over endless cups of coffee and endless adding machine tape, will never be forgotten. As we transitioned to the Internet, we sure missed those long talks, but they are forever imprinted in our brains, hearts and souls. Peace, Jay.

Bonni and Mitch – I am so sorry for your loss. So sad to lose friends who’ve made such a positive impact in our lives. It’s quite ironic that as an accountant he passed away on March 15 – which is the deadline for corporate taxes. For most people in the tax world this is a much bigger deadline than April 15th. Love you guys.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dear friend, Jay. He sounded like a phenomenal man and he will be greatly missed by many. It seems almost surreal when one of our friends “leaves” us. For me, it takes a long time to readjust and accept a loss. My thoughts are with you, Bonni.
