There are countless reasons to do yoga, but often on the weight loss journey we over look it for other, high calorie burn workouts. The thing about yoga is it WILL help you lose weight. Practicing yoga doesn’t just change your body, it changes your mind. It changes the way you approach all aspects of life, including decision making, your body and your food choices! Yoga tends to point us in the direction of making more wholesome choices, guiding us toward better fuel choices, rather than processed foods. Changing the brain is always the answer to the achievement of LONG term goals. Ask ANYONE who cross-trains and includes yoga in that cross-training, and they will tell you there is no amount of weight lifting that compares to holding your own body weight up while engaging your core, breathing and then moving through poses that allow you to raise your heartbeat, strengthen your muscles and lengthen them out all while “doing no harm.”
